The second release on Second Language Music, in 2010, was the multi-artist compilation, ‘Music And Migration,’ – 21 tracks “inspired by both the miracle of the migratory impulse and the human-inspired peril of avian life today.” Limited to just 300 copies and enveloped in “luxurious, hand-tooled, recycled packaging,” the first 50 included a unique, specially-embroidered bird, meticulously stitched by Magdalena Burgos Basla. The album included exclusive tracks by Vashti Bunyan, Hauschka, Leyland Kirby, Library Tapes, Peter Broderick, The Declining Winter and many more. Two further compilations in the same series were to follow and supported BirdLife International’s Born To Travel campaign, helping to raise awareness of the threat to global bird migration.
