One of the most exciting pluses of the Avenue With Trees project is the creation of new recording guises it has spawned. Neither Statues In Fog nor Alter Later existed before the project began. So, not only do we find the first recorded work of both across these two discs but hopefully, there’ll be much more to come from them.
‘Secondaries’ shouldn’t be really be seen as peripheral to the main album, as it was recorded in the same time frame, often in the same sessions and these tracks would fit neatly amidst the ones on ‘A Second Language cornucopia.’ If anything, the 7 offerings here even more perfectly honour the original brief of “Brussels, raining, 1983…”
